Sensory Overload

To cover my ears and block out the world
To rock it so gently away
To shut my eyes and pretend I’m elsewhere
To hum so there’s nothing left
To bang my head so the confusion is gone
To curl up so I feel safe and warm
To hide under blankets so I can feel hugged
To be without words so alone and lost
To have my body not do what I want
To cry loudly so I can let it all out
To be overloaded so scared and afraid
To be frustrated no one understands my pain.

—Posted below is the original draft of the poem, I kind of put all those To’s there to rain the ME out of the poem. I really didn’t like those feelings anymore —

Cover my ears and block out the world
Rock it so gently away
Shut my eyes and pretend I’m elsewhere
Hum so there’s nothing left
Bang my head so the confusion is gone
Curl up so I feel safe and warm
Hide under blankets so I can feel hugged
Be without words so alone and lost
Have my body not do what I want
Cry loudly so I can let it all out
Be overloaded, scared and afraid
Be frustrated that no one understands me
That no one understands my pain.

My Soft Toys :)!

Upon a time I was told
My mind would never expand and grow
Yet here I am with my best friends
Who grow with me each day thats been

These friends may not talk so much
Unless I sit and make them of course
But they have stood by me each day and night
And smile when I come into sight.

These friends of course are my Bears
My soft toy Cats and Dogs
Theres an Elephant, some dragons
And a small kiwi who likes to make a sound

They go with me on adventures
Into jungles and dark caves
They rule over gigantic kingdoms
And fear attacks when my kitty plays

They have held so many positions
From Valiant Knights to Honorable Kings!
Princesses, princes, astronauts!
Explorers Cowboys and Chiefs!

How lucky I am to have them
For they love me as I love them
How lucky I am that they are here
For the coming adventures to be!

Lightbulbs

NB: I took this second picture at Hamilton Zoo! I wrote this to go with it

Hamilton Zoo - New Zealand

In life we find things facinating,
And look at things in awe,
If we understand them or we don’t!
We just marvel at them lost
The world is just so beautiful,
And full of such strange things
Some of them are made by man,
And some occur by natures hand
That doesn’t make them any less
Or any greater than one another
We just must remember,
Our lightbulbs differ from one another
