The first to fall – Sylia of Aysteria (Unfinished Story/note)

Sylia looked around, his men so wary and tired… upon their faces, war was present… that icy cold look of death, etched deep into their eyes. He saw that they were unready… not yet prepared to give up theirlives, but he knew that if they didn’t. Those nations to the east would fall in terror, to ruins that would not be recognized

It was in this moment, something overcame his soul, a kind of fire that warmed from head to toe. Standing tall as his men lay in rest he began to speak from his heart in passion,  in hopes to inspire them to continue on, and not to flee in fear.

“This day is one of sorrow, one of tears… yet one of hope,

I know so many of you, today, if not all of you… will fall with me,

However first before you do I shall give you a choice, for none of you do I want, to wait for the next to come.

This choice of which I am going to rest before you is not a choice of life or death

But more a question of if you, as an individual…

Wish to keep those you love alive, and give our our allies,

Our people!  Our Kind!

A fighting chance for a future in this ever-changing world…

So I ask each of you, who have followed me through so much.

Seen so much blood in past times, so much hate, felt the shadows creep so close

To please stand with me, till the end- Stand and fight, till your souls meet the next.

Stand with me, not alone, not defeated but in honour and glory,

Stand with me for the future of our world.”

He then looked around at his men, each of them with their heads bowed… Silence was all that followed… But then as he began to take his steps, towards the hill, knowing full well that just over were the shadows which they all feared so much. His men began to follow with him, began to accept their place in history. As the first to fall in a bitter battle to the end.

It was in this moment, something overcame his soul, a kind of fire that warmed from head to toe. Standing tall as his men lay in rest he began to speak from his heart in passion, the truth of what each of them was taking on, just by being who they were, where they were in hopes to inspire them to continue on

His men began to follow with him, began to accept their place, each of them began to understand… that they would be written in history as the ones who gave hope…

And the first to die in what would be a bitter war to the end.
