The end of a friend (Story Unfinished) – (WARNING – VERY DEPRESSING)

NB: This is very depressing, confusing, sad. This is something I wrote years ago, I think maybe after a person I knew ended their life. I didn’t know them so well but I think we could have been friends. Please don’t read if you are easily upset.

I lay on the ground not moving, just looking up at this beast. A creature I could not see, it blocked out the sun and only two red eyes beamed down upon me. They were light, evil and corrupt though for some reason they spoke truth.

I lay on the ground not moving, just looking up at this beast. A creature I could not see, it blocked out the sun and only two red eyes beamed down upon me. They were light, evil and corrupt though for some reason they spoke truth.

They looked at me, stared at me… and for a moment locked with mine and then at that moment we were equals, we were the same as each other. The lies I had been told about them, the lies he had heard about us. We both did not want to fight but wanted to know about each others minds…

From that moment he left, he walked away from that battle and I knew he would not be able to return to his kind. So I followed him a step behind. From that moment we travelled together, he knew I was there… he always did, not once did he question my being. He let me follow him and I let him see… I was waiting for the day to redeem myself, to save his soul and mind alike… We, I can say were best friends, without being friends at all.

Though that day came; I saved him from his own demons. Upon the day he declared himself a lost soldier without a battle. He tried to end himself this night, this night of endless sorrow. I knew it was coming though. That morning the dawn was red and I could tell that it was a day of unnatural occurrences. Though it was not until the night that what was to happen appear before me, and it appeared in the image of a tree, a rope and his floating body. His sword was planted in the ground below him; this was a soldier’s death of honour. To join the desert of swords and heroes, this was to be his final battle… or his plan at least.

I guess as they use to say fight until there is no one to fight and when that day comes fight your own self.

Though I knew a battle would come, I believed this was not the end. Though what made me wonder… is why this beast let me see it… let me see his death so purely. I ran to this tree this hovering body… his last breathes puffing out unto the cold misty morning. I could hear his heart beat and with mine I felt it move. I held him up with all my might, I held him with my strength and will. I gave him my shoulders to stand on.

It was the moment I had been waiting for… since that long ago day when we became equals.

I held him for 3 days; with tears in my eyes full of sorrow… till at last, finally God sent his verdict. There was nothing more that I could do… I let go out of command, he was to die for his sins to man, though how sad I was to see him go. Confused, and torn was to why…

Now lost, I travel the path we travelled, the way we went when I followed him. I had lost my only friend. Perhaps I’m cursed as I feel time, has no effect upon my mind, my body I am yet to be sure… though to mourn him… perhaps forever more. Alone, till my death finds me also.
